Tamil Nadu government has now confirmed the first installment payment date under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme for new applicants. The installment amount will start reaching women’s bank accounts from October 15, 2025, just before Diwali. This is being seen as a festive gift by the state government for lakhs of women who recently applied. This scheme provides Rs. 1000 per month to the eligible financially weak women in the state.
About 60% of the complaints received at recently announced Stalin Camps were related to the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai scheme. To address this, applications submitted at these camps are now being processed in phases, and eligible women will get their benefits soon.
Application Review Process Through Stalin Camps
Special Stalin Camps have been set up across Tamil Nadu to collect applications from women who were earlier left out of the scheme. These camps handle multiple government services in one place, including caste certificates, land ownership transfers, pensions, marriage support, and Aadhaar corrections.
Applications submitted at the Stalin camps are being verified by the government and responses will be given within 45 days. The government has already indicated that the first list of new beneficiaries will be released shortly.
Government is aware that many eligible women were still waiting for their benefits because of some gaps in the whole process. But, the government has promised that all genuine applicants will be covered within the next few months.
He also said the decision to release the installment just before Diwali is to bring real happiness to Tamil Nadu’s women, many of whom depend on this support.
