Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Scheme has been launched by the Goa state government. In this ambitious Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampoorna Goa initiative, govt. will focus on increasing economic activities. The major objective is to ensure that every village in the state becomes self-reliant (aatm nirbhar) by “harnessing resources available within the area”.
Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Scheme 2024
The Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Scheme had been started implementing from 2 October 2020. In this scheme, benefits of all the state and central government schemes are to be brought to the doorsteps of people. As a part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampoorna Goa initiative, government officers, teachers and students will reach out to each and every village panchayat. This would be done in order to ensure that every village becomes self-reliant by harnessing the available resources within the area.

Timelines of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Initiative
Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Initiative will be implemented in three phases of one year each as shown in the table below:-

Involvement of Swayampoorna Mitra
In addition to the government officers, “Swayampoorna Mitra” namely teachers and students would also be involved in Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Scheme. These swayampurna mitras will provide benefits of all the state and central government schemes to village panchayats. Under the programme, govt. will perform skill mapping of the population and resource identification of villages to ensure that every village become self-sustainable.
Data for Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Initiative
The state govt. wants to eradicate poverty from every village through Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Initiative. It is possible through participation of locals along with state government. The programme will be banking on data collected by various govt. agencies about social and economic assets and liabilities of each of village.
CM said private industrial sector would also be encouraged under Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa initiative by facilitating ease of doing business. As a part of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampoorna Goa”, training programmes would be conducted during the entire year for people to enhance their skills.
Launch of Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Initiative
Goa govt. is relying on importing goods from other states because the state has neglected our own produce. Every day, around 2 lakh litres of milk is imported. Around 1.5 lakh eggs are a daily requirement during the tourism season in Goa and why can’t we produce this in our villages.
As part of the initiative, around 41 village panchayats have been identified for the early phase of the government’s self-sufficiency initiative. It will involve creating a detailed dossier on each village, listing existing infrastructure, potential and seeking inputs on the requirements to make it self-sufficient.
All government officers should be Karmayogis in their efforts to conduct the exercise to make Goa Swayampoorna. The Chief Minister added that one of the key agendas of his government was to eliminate poverty in the state. The state govt. want to eliminate poverty. Goa is completing 60 years of Liberation (from Portuguese rule) and if a resident of Goa is still below the poverty line and the state govt. needs to change this and increase his income.
