Himachal Pradesh govt. has launched Atal School Vardi Yojana for the students in all the state run schools. Under this Free Uniform Scheme, all the students of class 1st to 12th will get these free uniforms. Students are provided with free school uniforms for the FY 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 & 2022-23. In Atal Vardi Yojna in 2018-19, around 8,30,945 students of class 1-12 had received 2 sets of free school uniforms with an outlay of Rs. 73.5 crore.
Under the Atal Vardi Yojana, students of 1st, 6th and 9th class are also being provided with school bags in addition to two uniforms in a year. This scheme would go a long way in inculcating confidence among the children from poor families. The Free Uniform Scheme was named after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee because of his special love for the hill folk.
HP Free School Uniform Scheme – Atal School Vardi Yojana 2024
Himachal Pradesh govt. had already started procurement, supply and distribution of school uniforms to the school students of class 1st to 12th under the Atal School Vardi Yojana. These uniforms are being given to the students in state run schools for the year 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 through the Himachal Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation.

As mentioned above, around 8.3 lakh students of class 1-12 had already received 2 sets of free school uniforms worth Rs. 73.5 crore in 2018-19. Moreover, around 2.5 lakh students of class 1, 6, 9 had already received bags worth Rs. 7.84 crore. The decision to implement HP Atal Vardi Yojna was taken in the cabinet meeting held at Dharamshala chaired by CM Jai Ram Thakur. The free uniform scheme aims to bring about uniformity among students in the classrooms by providing similar uniform to all irrespective of their economic status.
Earlier, the state govt. had also setup CM’s Helpline Number (Mukhyamantri Seva Sankalp Helpline No.) to reach out the citizens pro-actively and facilitate them to provide the helpline facilities through citizen’s call center. This is to ensure that a transparent and accountable system where roles and responsibilities is defined for each stakeholder. Moreover, each citizen should have a single window operation for information, demand, suggestions and grievances.
