Review of Summer Moong Procurement and Crop Insurance in Madhya Pradesh

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a virtual meeting to review farm work in Madhya Pradesh. They talked about the 2026 summer Moong purchase, which reached 5.33 lakh metric tonnes. This amount is within the approved limit of 5,39,072 metric tonnes. This ensures farmers get fair prices through the Minimum Support Price system.

Crop insurance updates

The meeting also covered how to run Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Officials talked about the updated weather-based crop insurance scheme and the planned start of the weather data system in the state. Central government leaders asked the state to finish these tasks faster to improve how they check crop output. The state should use both modern technology and field data to better support farmers.
