UP Disaster Insurance Scheme 2021 has been launched by the Uttar Pradesh government. This scheme will provide insurance coverage to registered workers in unorganised sector. Yogi Disaster Insurance Scheme will benefit a massive 4.5 crore people which is around 21% of UP’s population. All the registered workers will also be eligible for cashless, free medical treatment of upto Rs. 5 lakh under Mukhyamantri Jan Aarogya Yojana. What is UP Disaster Insurance Scheme 2021

In order to provide insurance coverage to unorganized sector workers, the Yogi Adityanath led UP govt. has started Disaster Insurance Scheme. The state govt. will embark on a major drive to register all workers in unorganised sector as CM’s Disaster Insurance Scheme is meant only for registered workers. Under Yogi Disaster Insurance Scheme, govt. aims to provide financial aid to the family of a worker in case of death or disability.

Assistance Amount under Yogi Disaster Insurance Scheme

A maximum assistance of Rs 2 lakh will be payable under 6 categories defined by the government. The full amount will be paid in case of death, complete disability, or loss of two limbs.

  • In case of loss of one limb or an eye, 50% of the amount will be paid.
  • If permanent disability is over 50% but less than 100%, then 50% of the amount will be given.
  • If disability is 25%-50%, then 25% of the amount will be given.
  • If a worker is already covered under the benefits of any other central or state government scheme, then family will be issued difference, if any, in the amount to be paid under the original scheme as compared to the new scheme.

UP Disaster Insurance Scheme Registration / Application

The application for claiming the aid under UP Disaster Insurance Scheme has to be made within 30 days of the death or disability, on the website of UP State Social Security Board at https://www.upssb.in/ and in the labour department. Each application has to be processed within a week of receipt and dues are to be issued within 15 days. To avail scheme benefits, unorganised workers must register themselves firstly at https://www.eshram.gov.in/. A special provision in the budget will be made for UP Disaster Insurance Scheme, including funds for advertising.
