Tamil Nadu government has announced Annan Seer Thittam in its 2026-27 revised budget, and this TVK marriage scheme 2026 will provide an 8 gram gold coin and a silk saree to eligible brides on their wedding day. Finance Minister of Tamila Nadu N. Marie Wilson has set aside ₹812 crore for it.
The scheme was announced on 5 August 2026, when Wilson presented the first budget of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's government in the Legislative Assembly. Gold for brides was one of the main promises in TVK's election manifesto. Though, the detailed scheme rules, eligibility list and the application process have not been released so far.
TVK Marriage Scheme 2026 (Annan Seer Thittam)
Name of the scheme means elder brother's gift. In his budget speech, Wilson said the Chief Minister treats every woman in Tamil Nadu as a member of his own family, and the gold coin and saree will be given to them on their wedding day as Annan Seer.
Gold weight is 8 grams, which is one sovereign. One good quality silk saree will also be provided along with the gold coin, and both are gifts. There is no loan part, no repayment and no interest in this scheme.
Budget allocation of ₹812 crore
₹812 crore has been kept for Annan Seer Thittam in the revised budget estimates for 2026-27. The Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department will run this scheme.
A second gold scheme came in the same speech. Thai Maaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam will give a 1 gram gold ring to every baby born in a government hospital, at a cost of ₹560 crore. This scheme will start on 15 September. Both gold schemes together will cost about ₹1,372 crore to the government.
Who can get gold under Annan Seer Thittam
In the budget speech, the eligible brides were mentioned but clear eligibility criteria has not been revealed yet. No income limit, no age limit and no education condition has been notified yet by the Social Welfare Department.
However, TVK's election manifesto promised to include families earning below ₹5 lakh a year as beneficiaries under this scheme. But, it may change once the actual notifications comes out.

No application of this scheme has yet opened. There is no official portal, no form and no camps running for Annan Seer Thittam right now.

Jayalalithaa had started Thaalikku Thangam Thittam, which gave gold for the thaali, and it continued under the AIADMK government. DMK government later stopped it and brought in other women's schemes such as Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam and Pudhumai Penn Scheme.
