Need for TN Labour Dept’s New Online Portal Launch

Until now, the labourers in Tamil Nadu have to go to the labour department office in person to submit the application form. The unorganised sector workers were forced to forgo 2 to 3 days of earning and also spend their hard-earned money for commuting. Subsequently, more than 50% of the labourers have been denied the benefits due to non-registration.

There were around 35 lakh labourers in the construction industry alone in Tamilnadu state. However, the TN state govt. has been distributing the financial assistance to only around 12 lakh members who have renewed their membership after filling TN Labour renewal application form. The state govt. will extend benefits of its financial support schemes and relief to all the labourers.
