Sudakhya Yojana in Odisha to Encourage Girls for Technical Education

The state government of Odisha has launched Sudakhya Yojana to encourage girls for technical education. This initiative will enhance the quality of education for girls and women. The objective of the scheme is to increase the number of girl students from 7% to 30% in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).

Under Sudakhya Yojana, the government will encourage the girl students of the state to join technical Institutes such as Industrial Training Institutes (ITI). However, the govt. has fixed its target to recruit 5000 girls in 48 ITI centers across the state by the end of 2017-18.

Moreover, the govt. is considering to launch soon a Sudakhya Scheme Portal where a girl student can register themselves for this scheme. The Sudakhya Yojana is based on the lines of “Women Empowerment” to empower the girls financially.

Sudakhya Yojana Eligibility Criteria

  • The benefit of the scheme is to only for the girl students of Odisha state.
  • The girl students who have passed class X (Secondary Examination) examination will be eligible to get admission into ITIs centers.
  • However, the girl candidates who have cleared class VIII examination will also be eligible to join the ITIs centers but they get the benefit of the scheme for admission in to certain courses of ITI.
  • The married women will also get industrial training under the programme. But they have to qualify the above clause for the scheme

Furthermore, the state government will bear the entire cost of the implementation of the scheme. The time period of the scheme is 2 years from 2017 to 2019. The scheme will help fulfill the requirement of skilled labour for the industries. This scheme will also help reduce the gender gap in the state.
