Thane Court Upholds Compensation for Palghar Farmer Land Acquisition

Thane Sessions Court dismissed a plea from Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL) about buying remaining land in Palghar. The court supported an earlier decision that ordered them to buy 0.0910 hectares of land from a local farmer, Pradip Jawaharlal Karnavat.

Land compensation details

The court set the payment rate at Rs 39.63 lakh per hectare. It noted the remaining land was not useful for the owner after the first part was taken for the project. Judge P.V. Ghule pointed out that the land sits within 30 metres of the railway track. This makes it impossible to build anything there under Indian Railway Works Manual rules. The court saw no legal issues with the arbitrator's decision and rejected claims that the owner did not ask for this help.
