Renewable Energy Progress in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir has grown its use of renewable energy. Since the 2023-24 period, the region received Rs 307.63 crore in central help under Pradhan Mantri-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This money helped 40,620 households across the Union Territory.

Data shared in the Lok Sabha confirms 104.10 MW of rooftop solar capacity was added by July 31, 2026. When combined with small hydro and biomass projects, the total capacity addition reached 166.73 MW. Also, the PM-KUSUM scheme helped local farmers with Rs 22.33 crore in funding. This helped install 4,873 solar pumps. Local green energy infrastructure is growing steadily.
