Punjab Health Scheme Covers 12,000 Sepsis Cases

Punjab has provided medical care for 12,467 cases of severe sepsis and septic shock under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana. By September 1, 2026, the state government spent ₹51.58 crore to help these patients.

Data shows 10,961 cases of severe sepsis were treated for ₹44.33 crore. Also, 1,506 cases of septic shock needed ₹7.25 crore. This scheme gives eligible families cashless health cover of up to ₹10 lakh each year, which helps reduce money problems during critical care.

Sepsis warning signs

Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh mentioned that sepsis can be life-threatening within hours. Medical experts ask people to watch for warning signs, especially in newborns. Avoid self-medication with antibiotics to prevent drug resistance.
