Porbandar to Receive Narmada Water via Sauni Yojana

Due to a weak monsoon, Gujarat government is working to secure water for Porbandar. Ministers Arjun Modhwadia and Ishwar Singh Patel told officials to use the Sauni Yojana network to fill dams, ponds, and irrigation schemes within 7 km of existing pipelines. This helps prevent drinking water shortages and supports local farmers who also use the Gujarat Kisan Suryoday Yojana.

Water management projects

Plans include speeding up work in the Ghed area. Officials are also fast-tracking land transfers for the Dipdajar and Sarmani irrigation schemes in the Barda forest region. Authorities plan to increase storage at Sukaala Lake and connect excess water from the Sorathi scheme to the Advana irrigation project. This proactive approach helps manage current water shortages well.
