PMAY-G Achieves 1.21 Crore Rural Homes Milestone

Rural India has seen a change in housing standards as Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) finished 1.21 crore pucca houses over the last five years. Launched on 1st April 2016, this scheme helps families living in poor conditions get a home.

Housing targets and construction

Government officials have a target to help build 4.95 crore houses by 31st March 2029. So far, 4.18 crore houses have been given to different states and union territories. Between FY 2021-22 and FY 2025-26, authorities approved 1.95 crore homes, and 74.59 lakh units are being built now.

Accountability is a top priority here. The government stopped funding in areas where problems were found to keep the system clear. Eligible people can track their PMAY Gramin Application Status or check PMAY Beneficiary Details online.

This scheme does not run in Delhi, Chandigarh, and Puducherry. Also, Telangana did not take part in the earlier phase between FY 2016 and FY 2024.
