PM Surya Ghar Yojana reaches 5.15 million households with 14.8 GW capacity
PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana installs 1 lakh rooftop solar systems every week. Daily completions hit 16,328 in July 2026. The scheme has helped over 51.5 lakh households by mid-August 2026, with a total capacity of 14.8 GW.
Regional distribution and targets
Adoption is fast, but 70% of national capacity is in five states: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Kerala. The government keeps its target of 1 crore households by March 2027. Authorities are looking at a three- to four-month extension to reach this goal.
