PM Surya Ghar ULA Model Reaches 2.23 Lakh Installations

PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is moving ahead through the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model. By 25 August 2026, the government finished 2,23,446 rooftop solar installations. This scheme helps poor families get solar energy without needing to pay high costs at the start.

Andhra Pradesh leads with 1,41,242 units. Odisha follows with 73,867 and Telangana with 7,442. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has released ₹525.69 crore in subsidies. With final approvals for 16.58 lakh more units across 12 states and UTs, the goal is to hit 30 lakh ULA-based installations by March 2027.

How this model helps families

This model helps families who cannot pay the usual ₹1-2 lakh investment. DISCOMs use bulk tenders to lower costs. People now pay about 10 percent of the cost, which is roughly ₹5,000 per kW. Developers must also provide five years of free maintenance, making this a very user-friendly scheme for citizens.
