PM Jan Dhan Yojana Deposits Cross Three Lakh Crore Mark

Twelve years after starting, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana reached a big step. By August 19, 2026, total deposits in these accounts reached ₹3.17 lakh crore. This is a 12.8-fold increase since the scheme started in 2014, showing people are using formal banking.
Banking Growth Details
Account growth is strong. Total accounts reached 59.09 crore, while the average deposit per account rose 3.4 times to ₹5,356. Women hold 55.7 percent of these accounts, which helps them manage their money better. Also, 77.8 percent of accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas, which shows the scheme reaches many people.
Government issued 41.29 crore RuPay debit cards to help with digital payments. By using the JAM trinity, the system makes sure welfare benefits reach the right people without any loss. It is a helpful move for financial coverage in India.
