PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme: Overview and City Coverage

PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme is a Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs program to improve public transport. It will roll out 10,000 air-conditioned electric buses across 169 Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. This scheme focuses on urban areas with 3 lakh to 40 lakh people and gives priority to cities without formal bus services.

Scheme Details

The total budget is ₹57,613 crore, with the central government providing ₹20,000 crore as money help. The scheme uses a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to manage bus operations. Along with the buses, the government pays for all power infrastructure, such as charging stations and depots, and gives 10 years of operational support to participating cities.
