Per Drop More Crop Scheme Reaches 115 Lakh Hectares

Per Drop More Crop scheme reached a big step by bringing over 115 lakh hectares under micro-irrigation as of July 2026. This central scheme, part of Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, has helped 12.30 lakh farmers across the country.

Financial support is given for drip and sprinkler systems, for up to five hectares per person. Small and marginal farmers get a 55 per cent subsidy on setup costs. Other farmers get 45 per cent. Over the last three years, the government released ₹8,123.24 crore in support. For 2025-26, ₹3,226.36 crore was set aside for this scheme.

Top states and farming benefits

Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Rajasthan have the most coverage. The program also encourages fertigation to improve nutrient use. It gives top priority to areas facing groundwater stress. Farmers can apply for help on the same land again after seven years.
