Parliamentary Panel Reviews DDU-GKY Performance and Placement Gaps

A parliamentary committee report shows that Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana has trained 18.38 lakh rural youth. Out of these, 11.94 lakh found jobs. This is a 65 percent placement rate, which is below the 70 percent target set by the government.

Concerns and recommendations

The committee, led by MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, is worried about low salaries after training and high dropout rates. They suggested better industry connections and tracking to help people keep their jobs longer. A recent review found that most people earn about Rs 16,500 each month.

The panel asked the government to add green skills like solar technology and sustainable farming to the training. This will help prepare youth for climate-friendly jobs.
