Parliamentary Panel Criticizes Skill Development Targets for Persons with Disabilities

Parliamentary standing committee expressed concern because National Action Plan for Skill Development of Persons with Disabilities failed to meet its targets. The panel noted that the department reached less than 25% of its goals over the past three years.

Performance and recommendations

Performance data shows a big drop. In 2024-25, 836 trainees were trained against a goal of 15,000. The government mentioned administrative problems during the move to the PM DAKSH-DEPwD portal, but the committee is not satisfied. They recommended that the new Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana use an industry-linked approach to get better placement results for trainees.
