Over 115 Lakh Hectares Covered Under Micro-Irrigation Scheme

Government efforts to improve water use in farming have reached a big step. By July 2026, more than 115 lakh hectares of farmland are covered under the Per Drop More Crop scheme. This scheme is a main part of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. It helps farmers set up micro-irrigation systems to save water and grow better crops.

Scheme Details and Support

Financial support is available for up to five hectares for each eligible farmer. Small and marginal farmers get 55% support. Other farmers receive 45% support. During the last three years, the central government has released over 8,123 crore rupees to help with these setups. This is a very important way to help increase farm income through careful water management.
