Odisha Ranks 7th Nationally in Rooftop Solar Installations

Odisha reached seventh place in rooftop solar installations across India. Data from Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy shows that the state finished 1.74 lakh installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This is a jump from its 13th rank, as the state moved ahead of Madhya Pradesh and Assam.

The state received over 3.12 lakh applications. The conversion rate is now 53.4 percent. Odisha plans to reach three lakh installations by 2027. Eligible residents can get financial support up to ₹1.38 lakh for a 3 kWp system.

Growth in solar energy

Local power companies like TPCODL and TPWODL are helping this growth through campaigns such as Mo Chhata, Mo Sanchaya and the Solar Rath initiative. Baleshwar district currently leads the state with 16,069 installations. This adds to a total capacity of 410 MWp across Odisha.
