Odisha state government officially confirmed on September 1, 2026, that Gopabandhu Health Insurance Scheme will not merge with Ayushman Bharat scheme. Journalists currently enrolled will continue to get their existing benefits without any break. This helps many families relying on this coverage. If you are a journalist not yet covered, you can still apply by following the standard rules. Odisha Union of Journalists shared its appreciation for this decision, noting how important this support is for healthcare security across the state. No changes are being made to the current structure or benefits of the scheme.
