Odisha CM Announces 560 Crore Urban Development Package

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi celebrated Local Self-Government Day 2026 by announcing a 560 crore package for 28 new Notified Area Councils. Each council gets 20 crore to improve basic things like roads, drains, and markets. Also, the government launched 593 urban projects worth 323 crore under Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana in 62 urban areas.

New Urban Services

The government introduced Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Bandhu and Odisha Yatri SOS app to improve city services. Officials said the state plans to reach 40 percent urbanisation by 2036. Through Sahayog programme, nearly 2.78 lakh people now get benefits from various welfare schemes.
