Natural Farming Transition and Incentive Analysis

Natural farming is growing as a long-term choice to farming using chemicals. Recent ICAR research across 16 states shows that natural farming keeps crop yields about the same as regular methods. It also helps soil health and lowers costs by 40-50%.

Financial Support Details

Now, the government gives a payment of ₹4,000 per acre each year for two years through the National Mission on Natural Farming. This help is limited to one acre per farmer. Some experts suggest that giving this money for the full converted land would help small farmers manage the drop in crops often seen when first switching methods.

By moving focus from fertilizer subsidies to direct help for farmers, India can lower its yearly spending on chemical imports. This will also help create a stronger farming system.
