Mahtari Vandan Yojana Boosts Financial Independence for Chhattisgarh Women

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai recently celebrated Raksha Bandhan and highlighted how the state helps women. Mahtari Vandan Yojana is a main part of this, giving monthly money help to about 68 lakh women in the state.

The government sent the 31st payment for the scheme on August 25, 2026. This transfer was over ₹631 crore, so eligible women got their money right before the festival. Each eligible woman gets ₹1,000 every month to help with home costs, school fees, and treatment costs.

Expanding support for women

Along with these cash payments, the state encourages women to lead through schemes like Lakhpati Didi and drone services. Money support is also helped by a 50 per cent reservation for women in panchayat elections, which encourages more women to take part in local rules and work.
