Karnataka to Re-verify Gruhalakshmi Beneficiaries

Karnataka government is starting a home visit re-verification drive for the Gruhalakshmi scheme. This follows the discovery that ₹177 crore was wrongly paid to people who have passed away. Although ₹30 crore is back, officials are working to get the rest.

Verification process details

To help with this, six-member committees will be formed at gram panchayat and ward levels. These teams include local representatives and party workers to make sure only eligible households get benefits. The government also set up automatic systems to stop payments when a beneficiary dies. It is also looking into biometric checks to stop future errors.
