Jammu and Kashmir PDS Beneficiaries Reach 68.5 Lakh in 2026

Data shared in Lok Sabha shows Jammu and Kashmir has 68,49,967 registered people under Public Distribution System for 2026. This is up from 67,47,183 people in 2025. Government support is very important for this network. The Centre released ₹54.54 crore during 2025-26 to help with foodgrain movement and Fair Price Shop dealer margins.

Ration Card Cleanup

Officials confirmed that they are removing ineligible ration cards as part of a routine database check. Nationally, the government released ₹75,254.34 crore as food subsidy under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana as of August 6, 2026. These efforts make sure that food reaches families who need it most in the Union Territory.
