Jammu and Kashmir Health Funding and Coverage Update

Jammu and Kashmir received more than ₹4,100 crore in central funds through National Health Mission and Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission during the last five financial years. Union Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav confirmed that 25 lakh families in the Union Territory have health insurance cover, which includes Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme.

Health Funding and Services

Central support to the region has grown steadily. NHM funding rose from ₹459.10 crore in 2021-22 to more than ₹1,000 crore each year by 2024-25. Data from AB-PMJAY and AB-PMJAY Sehat schemes show that Jammu district had 2,10,408 hospital admissions. Srinagar followed with 1,97,433 admissions.

Telemedicine services are also growing. eSanjeevani completed nearly 1.9 million consultations by July 2026. These services work through 3,174 operational Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the region. These centers are part of the Popular Indian Government Schemes List.
