India Approves 1,800-Km LPG Pipeline Expansion

Energy sector update. Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board approved three LPG pipeline projects covering 1,800 km. With an investment of Rs 7,000 crore, this plan helps reduce reliance on road transport for gas delivery.

Pipeline project details

GAIL India will lead these projects. They increase the common-carrier network by nearly 24 percent. The network will reach 9,500 km when finished. Main routes include a 556-km line from Cherlapally to Nagpur, a 611-km stretch between Jhansi and Sitarganj, and a 633-km link connecting Shikrapur, Goa, and Hubli. Lower logistics costs and better road safety are the main goals. Moving away from tankers helps reduce carbon emissions. It also creates a more reliable supply for every household.
