Himachal Pradesh Launches New Welfare Schemes for Families and Mothers

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced two welfare initiatives, Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar and Indira Gandhi Matri Shishu Sankalp Yojana, during Independence Day celebrations in Hamirpur. Both schemes start on October 2, 2026.

Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar will support 1.80 lakh families over two years. Indira Gandhi Matri Shishu Sankalp Yojana begins as a pilot project in 21 ICDS blocks. It focuses on better nutrition for mothers and children by providing milk or eggs three times a week. These initiatives match other women welfare schemes running across India.

New financial updates

The government announced salary arrears for Class-IV employees and pension arrears for retired staff. The state is also opening 100 new CBSE schools. It is increasing monthly pay for ASHA workers to Rs 6,800. These steps support financial self-reliance and better public services, consistent with schemes launched by PM Narendra Modi to strengthen social welfare.
