Himachal Pradesh Extends Doctor Retirement and Boosts Healthcare Pay

Himachal Pradesh government extended the retirement age for state doctors until March 31, 2027. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu confirmed this decision to make sure medical services continue without breaks. ASHA workers will get a monthly pay increase of ₹1,000 from April 1, 2026, which brings their total monthly pay to ₹6,800. Also, National Health Mission staff including nurses and pharmacists will now receive ₹25,000 every month, and data entry operators will get ₹18,000.

Payment and nutrition support

To pay pending dues, the state is releasing ₹281 crore for salary and pension arrears. This amount includes a ₹20,000 payment for Class IV employees. The government will also launch Indira Gandhi Matri Shishu Sankalp Yojana on October 2, 2026. This scheme will support mother and child nutrition in 21 blocks. Managing these regular payroll costs is a top priority for the state. Himachal Pradesh remains focused on welfare schemes like Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme and Old Pension Scheme in Himachal Pradesh.
