Goa Government Plans New Lease-Based Housing Scheme

Goa government plans to launch a housing scheme called Chief Minister Housing Scheme. It aims to offer flats to eligible residents on a lease basis. Jit Arolkar, who leads the Goa Housing Board, says the launch should happen around Diwali in November 2026.

This model helps make sure people do not misuse homes provided by the government. If beneficiaries buy their own private house, they must move out of the government unit. The government will then give that unit to someone else. Officials are finding empty land in all talukas to build one- and two-bedroom flats.

Eligibility and project details

30 years of residency in Goa will likely be a requirement for this scheme. The project is being built as a state-specific plan, inspired by the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Please note that any flats already lying empty under the Goa Housing Board will still be auctioned separately. They are not part of this new project.
