ESIC Produces 4,961 Doctors and Reserves 880 Seats for Workers’ Children

Employees' State Insurance Corporation shared updated medical education numbers on August 21, 2026. Training continues to grow. ESIC now has 4,961 qualified doctors as alumni. This includes 1,682 graduates who are children of workers under the ESI Scheme. Also, over 1,200 postgraduates finished specialized courses.

College network and seats

Seventeen ESIC medical colleges are now active. They offer 1,550 MBBS seats and 559 MD and MS positions. You will also find 182 DNB seats, 17 DrNB slots, 31 DM and M.Ch spots, and 10 PhD places. Three state colleges add 330 MBBS seats. Dental training covers 124 seats across two colleges. Nursing programs hold 120 BSc spots. Paramedical institutes provide 292 seats. More colleges are being planned.

Children of insured persons receive special consideration. About 880 seats are reserved for children of ESI workers. Around 700 of these are for MBBS courses. The rest of the quota covers BDS, nursing, and other health sciences. This pathway helps families using social security benefits.

Infrastructure is growing. The corporation runs 169 hospitals and 1,603 dispensaries. Daily tasks are handled by 65 regional offices and 612 branch offices. Additionally, 117 dispensary and branch offices serve local areas. The ESI Scheme now covers 728 out of 787 districts across the country. Cash benefits, health services, and social security help reach the Viksit Bharat 2047 target.
