EPFO Plans District-Level Push for PM-VBRY Employment Scheme

Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is holding district-level workshops and giving states real-time data access to support Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY). These meetings include District Industries Officers, ESIC officials, and industry leaders to help create more jobs.

Training and implementation

Officials want an industry-led training model where local groups decide the course material. Workers can finish short courses of 15 to 30 days to improve their skills. The scheme aims to create 35 million jobs by July 2027. However, some board members worry that focusing only on manufacturing leaves out areas like agriculture and construction that also need help.

To date, the scheme has helped 6.26 million first-time employees. Discussions are also happening to allow employers with pending provident fund payments to join the program using the PMVBRY portal.
