Empowering Tribal Communities Through Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission

Tribal families living in forests rely on minor forest produce for their daily income. Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission, started in 2021-22, helps these families get a fair price for these goods. It does this by offering training, technology, and set minimum support prices. The government helps these gatherers form groups called Van Dhan Vikas Kendras. This helps them move from being just collectors to running their own businesses.

Mission Progress and Impact

As of July 31, 2026, the mission has approved 4,172 centers, and 2,911 are working now. These centers have connected 12.48 lakh tribal members to larger markets. They have reported sales of about 168 crore rupees. Van Dhan Yojana is a main part of this work. It helps with money, especially for tribal women who do most of the collecting and processing work.
