Digital Rupee Launched for PMGKAY in Chandigarh

Government launched Digital Rupee for payments under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana in Chandigarh. This system helps remove middlemen. It is a big step.

Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi started this on August 14, 2026. Chandigarh is the first Union Territory to use this digital currency system for food subsidies. The scheme also launched virtually for Dadra and Nagar Haveli. This technology makes the process clearer for poor families.
