Delhi Launches Vayo Anand Scheme for Senior Citizens

Delhi government is starting Vayo Anand scheme to help senior citizens aged 60 and above. With a budget of ₹25 crore for 2026-27, the scheme will set up community centres where elders can enjoy yoga, meditation, and indoor games like carrom and Ludo.
Community support for elders
These centres help elders connect with others to reduce loneliness. Monthly health camps will take place at these spots. They will also work with local hospitals and police to help during emergencies. Centres serving at least 200 senior citizens will get annual money help of ₹2.40 lakh.
The scheme also gives priority to women, transgender seniors, and those with disabilities. Resident Welfare Associations and NGOs will help run these centres. This effort helps elders live with respect, similar to how Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban helps with housing.
