Delhi Lakshmi Yojana: First Sanction Letters Distributed

Delhi government launched Delhi Lakshmi Yojana on 26 August 2026 at Talkatora Stadium. This scheme gives monthly money help of ₹2,500 to eligible women aged 21 to 60 from poor families. Out of this, ₹1,500 is kept in a fixed or regular deposit until 31 July 2029. The remaining ₹1,000 goes to a Central Bank Digital Currency wallet.

Eligibility and registration details

To apply, you must be a registered Delhi voter. You also need to have lived in Delhi for at least 10 years. Your household electricity use must be less than 2,400 units per year. Since the website opened on 1 August 2026, over 9.22 lakh women have signed up, and 6.52 lakh people have finished their applications.

On the launch day, officials handed out 4,000 to 4,190 approval letters. The government set aside ₹5,100 crore for the 2026-27 financial year. This money will help a target of 17 lakh eligible women. People may know this scheme by its former name, Mahila Samriddhi Yojana.
