Chhattisgarh Welfare Schemes Face Accountability Issues

Recent RTI reports show that Mahtari Vandan Yojana in Chhattisgarh sent money to 2,260 people who had passed away. This scheme has paid out ₹17,523 crore since March 2024. Official records show that recovery was not a priority until mass bank transfers happened in 2025 and 2026. Authorities have recovered ₹2,72,47,750 so far.

Scheme Performance Details

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana shows a gap between registration and payment. Even with a 3,500 percent increase in spending between 2023 and 2026, nearly 70,000 registered people did not get their first payment in the 2025-26 period. Also, 42 Sakhi One Stop Centres in the state managed 66,105 cases. They kept a 92.3 percent clearance rate for women in need.
