Chhattisgarh PMAY-G Housing Data Dispute

Political tension has grown in Chhattisgarh over different numbers for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel asked the state government about a large gap in reported housing completion numbers.

Baghel pointed out that Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma claimed 18.5 lakh houses were completed in a letter dated June 9, 2026. Data shared in Lok Sabha on August 11, 2026, by Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal showed only 9.81 lakh houses were finished.

Dispute over housing data

The state government says its progress is correct. Deputy CM Sharma claims more than 11 lakh homes have been handed over to eligible people, including 5.92 lakh units in the last financial year.
