Centre Approves Rs 5,000 Crore Housing Aid for Flood-Hit Assam

Union government approved housing support worth about ₹5,000 crore for families hit by floods in Assam. In a meeting between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, officials gave approval for 3.8 lakh new houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).

Additional support for families

To make sure no eligible family is missed, the Centre extended the survey period for the scheme by 15 days. Government also plans to offer PMAY benefits to tea garden workers after a digital survey once they get land pattas.

Along with housing, the Centre approved agriculture support. This includes ₹832.70 crore under Agriculture Unnati Yojana and RKVY. Funds are also provided for farm machines and the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).
