Central Pension Accounting Office releases sixth edition of pension payment scheme booklet

Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO) has released the sixth edition (2026) of the Scheme for Payment of Pensions to Central Government Civil Pensioners through Authorised Banks. This manual lists updated rules and guidelines for bank officials and CPAO staff handling pension payments for central civil pensioners.

Key details

This booklet has changes to pension rules made by Government of India since the fifth edition came out in 2021. It acts as a guide for Centralized Pension Processing Centres (CPPCs) and bank branches to process pensions correctly. This includes payments for former Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Members of Parliament, retired Supreme Court and High Court judges, All India Service pensioners, and freedom fighters under the Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana.
