Short Update
CAG Report Flags Scheme Irregularities in Jharkhand

Recent CAG reports in the Jharkhand Assembly show gaps in how three major welfare schemes are run. Audit findings show that 6.32 lakh eligible households did not get houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) because of poor planning and delays. Only 55 to 83 percent of available money was used from 2019 to 2024.
Scheme performance issues
Jal Jeevan Mission also faces problems. Only 27,249 out of 97,535 approved schemes were finished by December 2024. The state tap water coverage is 55 percent, which is lower than the national average of 80 percent.
MGNREGA audit found issues in financial accounts. It noted that ₹321.84 crore in wages for unskilled labor was not paid between 2019 and 2024. As of March 2024, nearly half of all proposed works were incomplete. These findings show a strong need for better administrative control.
