Bihar Student Credit Card Loan Limit Remains Unchanged

Students in Bihar can get education loans of up to ₹4 lakh through the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme. The higher education department confirmed that the loan amount has not changed after concerns about funding cuts.

Loan details and updates

Bihar State Education Finance Corporation provides the first ₹2 lakh of the loan. Scheduled commercial banks cover the remaining amount up to ₹4 lakh. This change helps increase support for students. The budget for this scheme grew from ₹886 crore in 2025-26 to ₹950 crore for 2026-27.

This scheme also connects with the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Yojana and the PM Vidyalaxmi portal. Students can visit these platforms to find extra loan options up to ₹10 lakh.
