Bihar Receives Approval for 11.19 Lakh New Houses

Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared an update for Bihar on August 20, 2026. Government officials approved 11,18,937 new pucca houses for poor families under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with a budget of ₹13,427 crore. This scheme helps give rural families a secure place to live.

While speaking in Patna, the minister said that over 24.30 lakh houses were approved for the state in the last two years. This represents a total cost of ₹29,164 crore. Payments are sent via DBT payment to the people who need them to make sure the process is clear.

The minister also talked about Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to help farmers cover crop losses caused by floods or drought. Improving farming and supporting businesses run by women are top priorities for the government.
