Bihar Cabinet Approves Major Education and Skill Development Initiatives

Bihar state cabinet, led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, announced 11 decisions on August 12, 2026. A main point is the plan to change 300 private B.Ed. colleges into multidisciplinary degree colleges. These will offer Arts, Science, and Commerce courses along with teacher education. This change matches National Education Policy 2020.

Education and Training Support

Government extended Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme and Kushal Yuva Programme for another five years, until 2030-31. For this year, ₹950 crore is set for the credit card scheme. Also, ₹430.08 crore will support youth training in new skills like AI and drones.

State will provide ₹10,000 per kilowatt, up to a limit of ₹20,000, as money help for rooftop solar setups under Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

Other updates include setting up Compressed Biogas plants in four municipal corporations. The government also changed the admission process for private Industrial Training Institutes. These steps help local work opportunities and improve waste management across the state.
