Bharat Taxi Cooperative Ride-Hailing Expansion

Bharat Taxi is changing how people travel in cities as India's first cooperative ride-hailing service. Started on 6 June 2025 under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, this scheme uses a zero-commission model. Rather than taking high platform fees, the system makes sure 80 percent of earnings go straight to the drivers, called Sarathis. The other 20 percent goes back into the company as capital.

Driver ownership and reach

Drivers become owners by buying shares for ₹500, following the idea of Saarthi Hi Maalik. By 25 July 2026, the service had 8 lakh registered drivers and 41 lakh customers in cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Jaipur. The service will soon launch in Patna, Guwahati, Bhopal, Kolkata, Indore, Nagpur, and Ranchi. With tools like Sarathi Didi for women's safety and links to Digital India apps like DigiLocker and UMANG, the platform plans to be available across the country by 2029.
