Short Update
Bescom invites tenders for 500MW solar project under CM-SKY

Bescom has asked for bids to install solar panels under Mukya Mantri Saura Shakti Yojana, or CM-SKY. This scheme aims to produce 500 MW of solar power by December 2026. Private companies will set up solar panels on empty or non-farm land near KPTCL sub-stations to power agricultural pumps.
Details for Farmers
Farmers can lease their land for 28 years. They will get a base price of ₹25,000 per acre every year, which will grow by 5% annually. The project needs three to four acres for every MW of power. Bescom will buy the electricity at ₹3.19 per unit via a 25-year contract. Unlike PM-KUSUM C scheme, this project provides no government money to vendors. The state expects an investment of ₹10,500 crore by year-end to give farmers seven hours of daytime power without breaks.
