Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY Launched in West Bengal

West Bengal launched Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana on August 16, 2026. This health scheme gives eligible families cashless medical cover of up to ₹5 lakh every year. It covers treatment in more than 36,000 public and private hospitals across India.

## Scheme benefits and access

Beneficiaries can use this health cover anywhere in India. The scheme covers all family members regardless of age and includes pre-existing conditions from the start. Residents can register through the official NHA portal or visit local hospital helpdesks and Duare Sarkar camps for help. The scheme uses existing records to support poor families, senior citizens over 70, and health workers.
